The Seattle Times

We had a very fun weekend! Our good friend Brady was in town from Alaska and although we weren’t able to provide nice, summer weather – Matt and Brady made a cameo on the front page of the Seattle Times! Of course I was there with Colin, but I guess the photographer thought the two of them were more photogenic.

Milestones and updates

Some of the things we have noticed about Colin recently: The mornings are when he is in the best mood; He is spending a lot more time cooing and talking to us; he definitely smiles and I think he is VERY close to smiling in response to us and not just randomly; he is so easy going – we can take him anywhere and he is just totally content; we like to call him “Little Jerry” because his eyes and forehead look so much like his Grandpa Sullivan; he LOVES bathtime, but DOES NOT like the time between taking his diaper off and getting into the water, and he definitely does not like getting out of the bath.

It is hard to believe that this is our 6th week with him!

Catching up

Well, after our ordeal at Children’s I guess I fell behind in posting so we will do a “catch up” post here.

The day after we came home from the hospital we got to go to the Murray’s house for Finn’s first birthday! We know how much Finn loves books, but we weren’t sure which books he already had! So….we got him his first gift card to do some shopping on the internet. I think he liked the present – it must have tasted good too!!Thursday, I got a chance to get my hair cut and colored! Thank goodness – Colin got to spend the day with his Grandma and I got a little pampering. This is just a picture of Colin on our way out the door!Saturday, we got to host a baby shower for some of our favorite people, Mike and Ashley Mooney. We can’t wait to add another baby to this group. This is a picture of Josie Selfridge, Colin, and Drew Bodmer. The kids were so great while the parents got to socialize and shower the soon-to-be parents!

Sunday was a special day! Matt’s first Father’s Day and Colin’s one month birthday. We went to brunch at Coho Cafe with Grandpa Sullivan and then Grandma and Grandpa Wilson came over on their way back from Chelan and got to spend some time with the little guy. Oh yeah, and I tried to get a little creative with a picture to commemorate his first month birthday.

Monday morning we had our one month check up. Colin weighs 9 lbs 4 oz and is 21.5 inches long. That puts him between the 10 and 25th percentile. We think that is pretty great considering he had a week of being sick!

Finally – I am including a picture of me and Colin – so far we don’t have many pictures together that I am willing to post on the internet!

Children’s Hospital

Our poor little Colin was having problems keeping food down last week and so after a number of doctor visits and trips to Children’s in Seattle, the doctors decided he needed surgery. He has a condition called Pyloric Stenosis, the surgery to fix it is really straightforward, but it was still hard to imagine our little guy in the OR!

Children’s is an amazing hospital – the nurses, doctors and all staff are really caring and make sure to take care of the parents too. Here are a couple pictures of him in our hospital room before the surgery and then a couple of us holding him after the surgery was over!

Reading to Babies!

We all know it is important to read to our children. Do you think that kids like the Wall Street Journal though? What you can’t see in this picture is the present Colin left for Daddy in his diaper as a result of this exciting read!
